Tomorrow marks the official release of the DSM-5, a hugely influential diagnostic guide that defines disorders of the mind. Many experts say it’s fundamentally flawed, and efforts to develop a better alternative have begun.

My insight from the article:

The good news is:

“With the new manual on the eve of its official debut, many experts are already looking beyond it. Some envision a future in which psychiatric diagnoses are based on the underlying biological causes instead of a description of a patient’s symptoms. Others caution that such a single-minded focus on biology ignores important social factors that contribute to mental illness. If there’s any area of agreement it’s this: There has to be a better way.”

The bad news is… They say it WILL take years to overhaul they system.

What’s interesting to me is that prior to 1980, tests for underlying medical conditions were fairly routine. But since then, diagnosis is merely upon evalulation of symptoms from the DSM.

Other experts are agree and are on track however. So if you do happen to have a “mental illness” diagnosis or know someone who does, get ahead of the game. Have some tests and analysis done.

To start with, these are critical:

1) Nutrient deficiency test

2) Candida Albican test (Fungal Yeast Overgrowth)

3) CRP – Tests for inflammation

4) Hormonal imbalance measurement

5) Neurotransmitter analysis

And lastly, don’t give up. Don’t for ONE SECOND buy into to the lie of “you can’t be cured/healed.” Because once you know the cause you will know the cure.
